You can now read Philip’s interview with Decibel Magazine online. His first longform interview since Dimebash.

Like so many huge mistakes, this one was made in Hollywood. Phil Anselmo was in town for the Dimebash, an annual benefit concert held to commemorate the life and music of Anselmo’s former Pantera bandmate “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who was gunned down onstage 12 years ago in Columbus, OH. By many accounts, emotions were running high—this was, after all, a tribute to a massively talented and beloved musician who was murdered while doing what he loved—and the booze was flowing freely. But it was all for a good cause: Proceeds from the show would go to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. With a star-studded cast that included the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Slayer members Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph and former Pantera bassist Rex Brown, Anselmo sawed off a handful of Pantera classics and a cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” at Lucky Strike Live on Hollywood Boulevard. At the end of the set, Anselmo raised his arm in the Sieg Heil salute and shouted “White power!”

Check out the new Superjoint song “Ruin You” at Decibel Magazine

It’s been 13 years, one name change, and one significant lineup shuffle since Superjoint released an album (2003’s A Lethal Dose of American Hatred, under their then-name Superjoint Ritual). But the group is set to release their new album, Caught Up in the Gears of Application, on November 11, through Housecore Records, the label run by singer Phil Anselmo. Insider tip: the album shreds, with killer riffs (care of southern-metal OG Jimmy Bower) all over the place, and we’re happy to be premiering a new song off the album for you today.

UPDATED!!! All the current info on the upcoming Superjoint release.

Superjoint will be releasing the new album “Caught Up In The Gears Of Application” on Nov 11, 2016.

The current roster of Superjoint is:
Philip H. Anselmo: Vocals
Jimmy Bower: Guitar
Kevin Bond: Guitar
Joey “Blue” Gonzalez: Drums
Stephen Taylor: Bass

Jimmy Bower: Sticking to our true hardcore roots and signature SUPERJOINT sound, we accomplished a record that needed to happen in today’s underground. It’s pissed off! This record brings our viscous style of hardcore back to life.

Philip H. Anselmo: The overall theme (of the album) means many things, or no things, but there is an underlying message regardless, about how modern technology — computers and all that comes with them, mainly — has affected our lives. As a musician, it has affected my life both negatively (music being stolen) and positively (being in touch with fellow musicians around the world and staying visible). But when looking at the broader spectrum, computer-land has given everyday people a platform in which to bellow like carnival barkers about anything and everything, humdrum or political, whether qualified or not, some with good intentions, some with disingenuous intentions, and some with ideas that lay somewhere in the middle, creating a mishmash of results.

Philip will fill In for Mike IX Williams on two EYEHATEGOD shows later this month

Philip will be filling in for EYEHATEGOD vocalist Mike IX Williams on two upcoming shows: The first at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 19th and the second at the 2016 edition of Gwar BQ in Richmond, Virginia on August 20th

From Mike Williams’ Facebook:
“Due to some recent very important health issues I am dealing with, I would like to announce that Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Pantera, Superjoint etc..) will be filling in for me at two special EYEHATEGOD gigs; New Orleans, LA’s Southport Hall – August 19th and the 7th annual GwarBBQ – August 20th in Richmond, VA.
Phil has my full blessings for these shows & with all forces willing, I will return to the stage as soon as I am physically able.”

Paraphrased From Philip:
“When our brothers in one of New Orleans’ most influential music outfits needs me, I’m there, one-thousand percent. There is no secret that I adore my brethren in EYEHATEGOD, as I’ve always supported them through thick and thin. This present situation will be no different. In light of Michael D. Williams’ health issues, which he needs to address more importantly than any other point in his life, and should be respected by anyone with a heart, I will do my best to fill in for him. Those are mighty big shoes to fill, but I shall do my best, once again. I do believe I speak on the behalf of all concerned parties when I state that we all need Mike IX Williams to heal, recover, and get better, as soon as possible. These gigs are not about me; it is about keeping the obligations of EYEHATEGOD, as a band and force, able to stay true to their commitments to these two gigs. My admiration of Mike and all of his works, especially EYEHATEGOD knows zero boundaries, hence, me doing these gigs. Here’s to Mike’s recovery, and here’s to supporting these shows on his behalf. Much love to everyone.”
