Philip addresses the differences between Zakk and Dime’s playing.

Philip also took a question from the audience about the differences between Dimebag and Zakk Wylde. This is how it went:

Philip confirms Down will be back.

After cancelling some shows and Pepper going full force with COC, Philip addressed the future of Down at his open/public interview on June 26 at the Diamond Pub Concert Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I think between myself, Patrick Bruders and one James Bower from EYEHATEGOD… We haven’t seen much of Pepper, because he’s obviously been busy with COC. That’s the freedom that rock and roll brings. So, yeah, we’re all kind of doing our own things but we always come back together because Black Sabbath, Trouble and Saint Vitus bring us back together, and that’s where we started from, you know what I’m saying?”

Down has no confirmed plans for the future other than the Psycho Las Vegas music festival taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 26th-28th 2016. More info here:

You can check out an audio recording of some of the Anselmo question-and-answer session in Louisville by listening to the “Talk Toomey” podcast at this location.

Philip’s thoughts on “rock stars” and meeting guys like Ozzy, Dio, and Lemmy.

Philip had a public interview and Q&A session at the Diamond Pub Concert Hall on June 26 and Geek TV was there to capture some of it.

Philip releases first track from his new band “Scour”. Hear it here.

Philip told decibel Magazine: “Doing the Scour project was a blast,” Anselmo tells Decibel. “The track, ‘Dispatched’ was the first one I attacked, as it was the first one sent to me. Lyrically, I leave it to the listener to evaluate, as usual. The way I saw it, the songs were short, and extremely straightforward, so I didn’t want to clutter ‘em up with too much. Therefore, I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. Hope all true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project… Much love to all!”

New interview with PHA & The Illegals/Superjoint drummer Joey “Blue” Gonzalez by

What’s a musicians’ dream come true?
Id say to be able to do what they love for a living.
What’s a teenage musicians dream come true?
To play with their musical heroes I would guess.

Combine those two and you get (insert ring announcer’s voice) Jose Manuel Gonzalez aka Blue also known as the guy who hits so fucking hard Peridore made him his own drumstick because the others kept breaking.

If you are not familiar with Mr. Gonzalez – He is the drummer for such bands as Warbeast, Superjoint and PHA and the Illegals.

MGM would like to note that this was my first skype interview and Mr. Blue made it very fun and entertaining as well as gave me some good hair tips!

Let’s begin!

Please read the interview in it’s entirety on here.

Philip Anselmo written apology

To all this will concern,

Every citizen in this entire world has the unalienable right to live with dignity and respect without hate or oppression. And I mean this, with all of my crushed, yet, guilty heart.

It’s common knowledge that we can choose to either learn from our mistakes, or continue on a path of insensitivity and destruction.

I am utterly responsible for the mistakes I have made, and can only give you my word to no longer do them in the present, through ACTION, not just mere words.

My band mates are now experiencing the consequences of my behavior, and I now publicly apologize to them as well. Never in my entire lifetime would I drag them down with me, and I’ve privately suggested to them that they move on without me.

My biggest obstacle(s) are the over-indulging in the booze and blurting out spiteful, ignorant reductions of the human spirit itself. I will address these issues, head-on.

I’m repulsed by my own actions, and the self-loathing I’m going through right now is justified by the hurt I’ve caused.

I realize we live in a society where apologies are NOT accepted easily, yet long for a day when they can be, but I also understand if I’m shunned till I hit the dirt.

From the bottom of my heart, and with all sincerity, I once again am truly sorry for the pain I have caused.

With truth, love, hope & respect-
Philip H. Anselmo

Invisible Oranges publishes Part 1 & 2 of their Housecore Horror Film Festival coverage

Let’s get something out of the way real quick: I’m not really a festival guy. Most of my favorite show memories are from dingy over-sold clubs where the crowd and band were one in the performance, and my limited festival experience has generally been the opposite of that. When I think “festival,” the first things that pop in my head are usually lots of security and barricades, taking out a loan for a bottle of water, and pseudo-schizophrenic line ups and set times. Last year’s Hoverfest in Portland was a pleasant exception for me, having a well manicured crew of bands, local food vendors, and an intimate outdoor setting that made it more of a party than a “mandatory fun” event.

Saturday began with a stop at the Holiday Inn for some movies, and to check out the media signing area. Paul Booth was there giving a member of Superjoint some fresh new leg ink, and Sleazy P. Martini was chatting with fans casually at his table and signing merch. The atmosphere was relaxed and easy going, and as I checked my watch after awhile, I realized I had once again missed the opening band of the day, so I hoofed it to the Aztec.

Housecore, Festivals and Phil Anselmo – an interview with Kate Richardson. Her role in, and the direction of Housecore Records and more.

Kate Richardson is a singularly interesting individual. Someone with a distinct role in the metal community as the fiancée of extreme metal godfather Phil Anselmo and the vice president of Housecore Records – one of the most exciting indie labels out there right now. She’s had an interesting life in the industry and if the recent Forbes article on her label is any indication things are only going onwards and upwards for this metal devotee.
